SERVE. LEARN. LEAD.

Student Ministry Internships at Central Church

Find a place to belong, grow in your calling, and gain meaningful hands-on ministry experience that prepares you to go wherever God leads you next.

I'm Interested

Central Church is inviting 1 to 3 Summit Pacific College students to join our ministry team as interns for the academic year.

Our goal is to provide more than ministry hours. We want interns to become part of the life of the church, receive intentional mentoring, develop their gifts, and gain practical experience serving alongside pastors, leaders, and ministry teams.

Belong. Grow. Go.

This is the culture of Central Church, and it shapes the way we approach our internship experience.

BELONG

You are more than an extra set of hands. We want you to become part of the Central Church family, building relationships and serving alongside our pastors, leaders, volunteers, and congregation.

GROW

Develop your gifts through hands-on ministry, personal mentoring, feedback, leadership opportunities, spiritual formation, and practical ministry experience.

GO

Put what you are learning into practice. Lead, serve, disciple, reach people, and gain experience that helps prepare you for wherever God calls you next.

Find Your Place to Serve

Interns can focus on a specific ministry area or gain experience across multiple ministries based on their gifting, interests, program, and ministry goals.

What Will You Experience?

Our goal is for interns to finish the year with greater ministry experience, confidence, maturity, and clarity about their calling.

Hands-On Ministry

You will participate in real ministry, not simply observe it. Depending on your ministry area, that may include serving, planning, leading, teaching, preaching, worship, production, outreach, preparation, or follow-up.

Personal Mentoring

Receive consistent pastoral mentoring with intentional conversations about ministry, leadership, spiritual growth, calling, challenges, and what you are learning.

Leadership Development

Develop communication, preparation, teamwork, responsibility, servant leadership, and an understanding of the practical realities of local church ministry.

Room to Explore

You do not have to arrive with everything figured out. Interns can explore different ministry areas while discovering and developing their gifts and calling.

Intentional Mentoring

Your internship should develop you as a person and leader, not simply fill your ministry hours.

Every Other Week: In Person Pastoral mentoring meetings at Summit Pacific College.
Alternating Weeks: Zoom Online mentoring and ministry check-ins on the opposite weeks.
Monthly Internship Check-In A more intentional review of how the internship is going, what you are learning, ministry goals, and any challenges.
Final Exit Interview At the end of the internship, we will meet to reflect on what you learned, celebrate your growth, and discuss possible next steps.

Schedule & Transportation

We understand that college students have classes, assignments, chapel, exams, and other responsibilities. We will work together to create a sustainable ministry schedule.

Sunday Mornings

Sunday morning is the primary ministry opportunity for many interns. Transportation between Summit Pacific College and Central Church can be provided.

Thursday Worship Rehearsals

Interns serving in worship, sound, tech, or production may participate in Thursday evening rehearsals. Transportation can also be provided.

Additional Opportunities

Additional ministry opportunities may be available depending on your area of focus, small groups, outreach events, special services, meetings, and church events.

Meals When Needed

If ministry responsibilities require you to remain in Chilliwack later or cause you to miss a college meal, we will make sure a meal is provided.

Flexibility During Busy Seasons

We want you to serve faithfully while also finishing your studies well.

Internship schedules are flexible during exam periods, reading breaks, holidays, and especially demanding academic seasons.

We simply ask interns to communicate with us in advance so that expectations and schedules can be adjusted together.

Who Are We Looking For?

You do not need years of ministry experience. We are looking for students who are ready to grow.

Teachability

A willingness to learn, receive feedback, ask questions, and grow through both success and challenge.

Dependability

Someone who communicates well, follows through, arrives prepared, and treats ministry responsibilities seriously.

A Heart to Serve

Ministry is ultimately about serving Jesus and serving people. We want interns who are willing to help wherever needed.

A Desire to Grow

Whether you already know your calling or are still discovering it, we want to help you take your next step.

Belong Here. Grow Here. Go From Here.

Whether you already know where God is calling you or are still discovering your place in ministry, we would love to walk with you. Come serve alongside our team, grow in your gifts, and gain practical experience that can help prepare you for your next step.
